Shop With A Cop is a Wisconsin program for Washington Co. families with financial hardship. The Washington County Sheriff'sOffice provides a fun evening for a number of underpriviledged children in our county. Eligibility Requirements
As we enjoy the beginning of fall in Wisconsin, I would like to ask you to take a brief moment to look ahead to the Christmas season. The Washington County Sheriff’s Office is currently making preparations to coordinate the Tenth Annual Shop With A Cop Program which will take place on Wednesday, December 11, 2013.
The Shop With A Cop Program involves law enforcement officers from all agencies in Washington County, donating their time to take a group of children on a Christmas shopping spree. Children are selected by referrals from social service agencies. Donated gift cards are provided to each child who then select Christmas gifts for their family members while shopping at Wal-Mart. The event is strongly supported by the West Bend Moose Lodge, who provides the location for the event. Dinner for the children and officers, gift wrapping by volunteers, and games conclude the evening. The program provides children an opportunity to experience the personal rewards of giving to others. In 2012, forty-five Law Enforcement Officers and seventy-five volunteers helped make the holiday brighter for forty-six local families.
In order to provide a successful program, Shop With A Cop needs sponsorship. The goal for 2013 is to take at least 60 children shopping. I am asking that you consider making a donation to the Shop With A Cop Program to help Washington County Law Enforcement Officers make Christmas a little more enjoyable for these children and their families.
To help sponsor our program, please make checks payable to WCSD – SHOP WITH A COP and mail to Deputy Mary Woerner, C/O Washington County Sheriff’s Office, P. O. Box 1986, West Bend, WI 53095-7986.
